About Cross-Border Live Lab
Cross-Border Live Lab is a knowledge base about the technical side of cross-border live streaming. We break down every stage between a host speaking and an overseas viewer understanding: speech recognition, machine translation, speech synthesis, audio routing, subtitle overlays and platform integration.
Why a separate site
The hard parts of cross-border streaming are very specific: how to wire a virtual audio cable, how to split OBS audio tracks, which stage of the pipeline the latency actually sits in, what to do when a brand name gets mistranslated. Product documentation can only tell you how to use a feature; it cannot tell you how the underlying problem works and what the trade-offs are.
So we put the latter on its own site. Articles here do not assume which tool you use. They cover method and trade-offs, and any time a specific product comes up, including our own, it is labelled.
Editorial principles
Only what is reproducible. Every parameter, path and step in a tutorial comes from actually doing it, not from restating a vendor claim.
Uncertainty gets stated. Latency and accuracy depend heavily on network, language pair and hardware, so we describe the test conditions instead of quoting a bare number.
Our own product is disclosed. OBSTrans (known as Yanbo in Chinese) is our desktop real-time translation tool, and any mention of it says so plainly.
About OBSTrans
OBSTrans is a desktop tool for cross-border e-commerce live streaming. It transcribes and translates the host in real time, reads the translation back in a cloned voice, pushes bilingual subtitles into OBS through a green-screen window, and translates incoming overseas comments back into the host language. It supports TikTok, Douyin, Kuaishou and WeChat Channels.
